Crossing Canada on foot
Yannick Proulx, an intrepid adventurer from the municipality of Mont-Blanc, Quebec, began crossing Canada on foot on April 15 with the aim of identifying the real needs of an individual in a society focused on hyperconsumption and productivity. Having left Cape Spear, Newfoundland, Yannick plans to take around two years to cover, alone, the 16,000 kilometers of theTrans-Canada Trail, a unique route conducive to reflection and introspection, he explains.
“I hope to experience a return to basics and then share my experience with young people in primary and secondary schools through conferences and free workshops,” explains the great walker who also plans other communication activities related to pilgrimage and long-distance walking.
To date, Yannick has traveled more than 5000 km. One of the most striking observations of his journey: the warm welcome and generosity of the people who hosted him, as evidenced by the observations he posts on his Facebook page, Une Rando avec Yannick.
On Facebook, it is possible to invite Yannick to your home for an overnight stay or to accompany him on a few kilometers of walking, as was the case with Richard Roy, in Chambly. “An inspiring guy, especially for someone like me who likes to inspire others,” commented this coach and physical education teacher.
“My workshop and conference project at the end of my long walk will be my way of recognizing the support I have received and giving back in order to help build a better world,” concludes Yannick.
Such an educational approach fits well with the personal approach of this event-type business owner for around twenty years. In 2020, the taste for a career change led him to dedicate himself to a mission, namely to demonstrate that it only takes a little in life to be happy. It’s about making the right choices taking into account financial, human and environmental imperatives.
Crossing Canada on foot will help develop such a philosophy of life, a process that can be followed using the following social media:Facebook,InstagramAndYoutube, still under the title Une Rando avec Yannick. Yannick's crossing of Canada is partly sponsored by:a StartGate Rossignol store (Bromont),Corivo Agency,Happy Yak,Atmosphere (Saint-Sauveur),JM Ross Laboratory (Mont-Tremblant),NAAK And Organic Druid, in collaboration with the Passionnés de Rando group which can be found onFacebook.
